Individual heating.The street got its name from one of the gates to the city. The Krakow Gate, through which the city could be entered from the north, is mentioned in city documents from 1382. Then it was called Tatarskaya, because Tatars lived near it. From the beginning of the 15th century (according to some sources, from the 1440s), the street and the gate on it (before the entrance to the modern Yaroslav Osmomysl Square) were named Krakivskih — from the direction of traffic towards Krakow. The gate had double wrought-iron gates and a drawbridge, which was later replaced by a masonry one. From 1404, the Tower of the Furriers rose above the Krakow Gate. At the end of the 18th century, the gate was dismantled along with all the city's outdated fortifications. |
